Politics Do you believe USAID was all a lie?

The last few weeks have been a busy one for the USA government as they kept exposing certain issues and funds misappropriation by the past government. The recent one was how USAID was used for matters not meant for. Do you think it was all about a lie, or is the government being too harsh?

No, I don’t believe USAID was "all a lie." While its effectiveness and impact have been debated, USAID has played a role in humanitarian aid, development projects, and promoting global stability. Like any large organization, its success can vary depending on the project and context.

But the misappropriation of funds must be a concern to you Menaka? It's one thing to be funded through appropriate channels but to be funded from money not earmarked or delegated to you is theft. The last government was good at pulling the wool over our eyes and now it's all being uncovered.

The misappropriation of funds that is being uncovered is shocking, to say the least. I have come to understand that more than 4 trillion dollars were being diverted during the last administration, and it was really sad because those funds would help to better the lives of those living in America.

The Dems have a different agenda than the Republicans due to different goals. For instance, a lot of Republicans are fundamentalist Christians, so they don't like LGBTQ stuff while dems see that stuff as a type of liberation and progressivism.

Oh man Jason I whole heartedly disagree with that sentiment. Trump supporters are not Christian fundamentalists lol They are every day Americans who are just sick of Big government and the over politicization and weaponization of the government against the people who disagree with their philosophies. So 3/4 of the voters this time voted for Trump... This is not a fringe movement anymore. MAGA is here to stay and so is it's fundamental philosophy. And just to be clear, I'm an immigrant to America that came here the correct legal way. So I'm not some right wing nut raised in Americas heartland.

The problem, though, is that Trump is also doing things as dumb as USAID, like wanting Canada annexed.

Yeah annexing Canada isn't going to happen but that's how Trump talks... he uses that kind of talk as a bargaining chip. USAID is a joke... The money is dispersed to these groups with zero accountability to where the money goes. Or the other programs they give money to are told exactly how to spend the money... i.e left wing pet projects. USAID is unfi t for it's purpose and should stop... I'm not paying for sesame street in frickin iraq!! Are you kidding me right now lol

I understand what you mean, but this sort of emasculation is not acceptable and will lead to a lot of enemies in the future.

I mean, yourself, you're from Scotland, so can't you see another Scotland rising up in North America?

I'm saying Canadians are very resentful over Trump's comments, his emasculating them. Isn't that just what England did to other UK countries?

Yes kind of I guess. But nationalism is spreading throughout the globe again and Countries like Scotland will not take being ruled by another government for long. The push for Scottish independence has been a long and painful one. But we will get there.

Stopping USAID has it's high points, like getting rid of silly social justice initiatives (aside from empowering women to get an education etc.), but the low point is the fact useful USAID programs will be replaced by Chinese ones, because China wants to replace the USA globally.

Money was not always being used for the right cause. In our country they were using the money for wrong reasons.

If China makes the move, it is going to be tough for the USA to recover. I believe removing some aids by the US government should be done in moderation and not in a harsh manner.

They already are the leading trading partner of all of Africa.

Let's see what exactly is going to happen in the near future because I see a lot of changes coming up very soon with the way China has reacted to the tariffs hike by the USA.

I don't know for other countries but the USAID wasn't a lie in my country n It really helped to subsidize those HIV drugs very low and even free in some cases. Sad that it would be taken away.
