Some define a great country by its economy, while others prioritize social justice, education, or happiness. Should economic strength be the ultimate measure of national success? What factors do you think truly make a nation prosperous?

I think economic strength gives power. Power gives you the ability to control the narrative. However economic power does not guarantee happiness. There are many small nations on the planet that have very happy citizens who maybe don't have a lot of money.

Economic power is an important drive to achieving success, but just like you said, the overall joy of a nation might be tied more to how the political situation in the country looks like. Once the political situation is right, citizens will want to do more to see the country have great progress economically.

Cost of living has to be factored in. For instance, I am planning a move to West Virginia with my wife. The economy there is not so hot, but the cost of living is lower, and I love rural area and mountains.

I believe economic success is important, but it doesn't solely determine a nation's greatness. True greatness comes from a balance of economic prosperity, social justice, education, healthcare, and the well-being of its people. Compassion and progress matter just as much.

In the case of Western Europe, much prosperity came, but only at the expense of slave labor, colonies etc..

The cost of living is way lower in certain places. In that case, even if not much is going on, people can still be happy.
