Do you think the niche of the forum determines the activities? I am asking this question because Chatosaur rebranded to Forum Island and this is not just a name change, we changed out focus as well, from a general discussion forum, we are building towards promotional and webmaster forum. Do you think we would have got better activities with general discussion niche or do you think we could get more activities now.

To be honest, I think there may have been better activities with a general discussion niche compared to webmaster forum. All members can actively participate in general discussion topics, but not all are well acquainted with webmaster related discussions.

When you move to a more technical niche, expect that the level of activity on the forum would drop. It is not many people that have knowledge about some technical niches and they won't be able to participate. General discussions have more participations than Webmaster forums.

Yes, a niche significantly determines the types of activities within a community. The interests, needs, and preferences of members in a specific niche guide the content, events, and discussions. Tailoring activities to the niche ensures higher engagement, relevance, and satisfaction.

Niche is what can make one want to join and become active on the community. To me, it is not every other thing. You have got to look at the niche as that is what is going to determine that. I have always looked at a lot of factors when we come to talk about niche based forums, and one of it is that members would want to be part of the discussion in order to stay active.
